An important update regarding YOUR PET OF THE YEAR AWARDS Donation receipt

Following a review of the program, we’ve identified that contributions made through ‘vote donations’ may unfortunately not be tax-deductible in the way originally stated and shown on supporter receipts. As a result, we have reissued your receipt information to reflect this correctly.

We are sorry for any confusion and appreciate your understanding as we work through this. Importantly, donations made directly to RSPCA in general remain fully tax-deductible - this update relates only to the specific 'vote donations’ of the Pet of the Year Awards.

Have Questions?

For supporters where tax deductibility is particularly important, please call our dedicated team on 03 9224 2501 or complete this form and our team will contact you.

As a small shelter team, we are currently arranging additional support to help respond to your inquiries as promptly as possible. We truly appreciate your patience while we work through this process carefully.

How Your Support is Changing Lives

Please know your support has already been put straight to work helping animals in need - rescuing animals from cruelty and neglect, providing urgent veterinary care, and helping vulnerable pets recover and find loving new homes. Since voting opened, more than 2,500 animals have already arrived into our care, with many thousands more expected throughout the year.

Because of your participation in this campaign, those funds have already been put straight to work. Here is how your contributions are making a difference right now:

  • Emergency Rescue & Safe Shelter: Your funds help our teams physically remove animals from situations of cruelty, abandonment, and severe neglect. You are providing them with a warm bed, nutritious food, and a safe haven the moment they come through our doors.
  • Urgent Veterinary Care: Many animals arrive injured, sick, or requiring immediate surgery. Your support funds life-saving operations, essential medications, vaccinations, microchipping, and critical ongoing treatments for animals with chronic conditions.
  • Behavioral Rehabilitation: Animals that have experienced trauma often need time and specialised care to learn how to trust humans again. Your generosity supports behavioral training, enrichment programs, and socialisation so these pets can confidently step into their new lives.
  • Finding Forever Homes: Your contributions help us maintain the resources needed to match these beautiful, recovered animals with loving families, ensuring they never have to experience homelessness again.

Thank You Once Again

While we regret that this receipt correction was necessary, our gratitude for your support remains absolute. We hope you feel incredibly proud knowing that your contribution is already making a tangible, life-saving difference for animals who urgently need our protection.
